9 August 2002 Blue Mold Forecasts

FORECAST SUMMARY: Friday, August 9

***** The Weather ***** High pressure now centered over the eastern Great Lakes has firm control over the eastern U.S. weather for the next 3 days. Skies will be sunny to partly cloudy each day. No rain is expected for most areas. As the High moves offshore, winds will shift more to the south, resulting in an increase in temperature and humidity. By Sunday.... a cold front will be moving through the northern tier of states. It may draw close enough to cause some scattered showers in parts of the Great Lakes or the northern Ohio Valley. Highs mostly in the 80's, lows in the upper 50's and 60's.

***** The Forecast ***** Conditions will be unfavorable for survivable transport and deposition through the weekend for nearly all areas. Low Risk for all commercial tobacco crops in the eastern U.S. and southern Ontario Friday through Sunday. A potential exception exists for Sunday.... when mixed conditions may impact growing regions in southern Ontario and northwest sections of the Ohio Valley. Should this happen, forecasts will be updated, with the risk for these areas increasing to Moderate.
