***** Disease Update - 5 August *** Blue mold has been confirmed in Yancey County in the NC mountains. Several fields in the county report light infections with first and second generation lesions present. Recent weather has been unfavorable.

 

FORECAST SUMMARY: Wednesday, August 7

***** The Weather ***** The cold front that pushed through the eastern U.S. during the past two days now lies over FL and the Gulf Coast region. Strong high pressure centered near the Great Lakes has moved in behind the front accompanied by a surge of cooler, drier air. Other than possible sprinkles in New England on Thursday, and scattered showers near the front in FL, dry conditions are expected under clear to partly cloudy skies for the next two days. In the extended..... expected more dry weather Friday and Saturday from southern Ontario southward through central GA. A chance of showers may enter the forecast for northern or western areas on Sunday.

***** The Forecast ***** Unfavorable conditions will be dominant over southern Canada and the eastern U.S. Wednesday and Thursday. Trajectories will be moving south and southwest. Low Risk for all tobacco-growing regions over the next two days. The lone exception may be in southern New England on Thursday, which may be at Moderate Risk due to some clouds and the chance of light rain.
