***** Disease Update - 5 August *** Blue mold has been confirmed in Yancey County in the NC mountains. Several fields in the county report light infections with first and second generation lesions present. Recent weather has been unfavorable.
***** The Weather ***** A cold front that now lies across the northern sections will push steadily southward during the next two days. The front will make it all the way to southern GA by Wednesday morning. Good chance of showers in the northern sections today. Scattered showers expected in the Southeast and lower TN Valley on Tuesday while northern areas dry out. Behind the front is an early taste of Fall. Much cooler and drier air will pour across the eastern U.S. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs in the upper 80's and 90's ahead of the front will turn into 70's and 80's after it passes.
***** The Forecast ***** In the Great Lakes and Northeast..... favorable weather today followed by unfavorable conditions on Tuesday. Strongly Moderate Risk for southern Ontario, southern New England, and southeast PA. Low Risk for these regions on Tuesday. In the Ohio Valley....Weakly Moderate Risk across the region on Monday, with partly cloudy skies and possible isolated showers. On Tuesday, Low Risk in central and eastern KY, Moderate Risk for western KY, Weakly Moderate Risk for central TN. In the southern Appalachian Mountains.... isolated showers are possible in a few areas today. Low to perhaps Weakly Moderate Risk for this region on Monday. On Tuesday.... rain is possible for the southern areas. Moderate Risk for the central and southern moutains of TN and NC, and for northern GA. Low Risk for other mountain growing areas. For central and eastern NC and VA..... Low Risk on Monday. Skies are sunny and no rain is expected today. On Tuesday.... some clouds will be present. The chance of rain is slim for most areas but scattered showers are possible in eastern NC. Moderate Risk for eastern NC on Tuesday. Low Risk for other growing areas in this region.
