FORECAST SUMMARY: Friday, August 30

***** This is our last forecast for the 2002 growing season. Our thanks to everyone whose efforts go into making this possible. A season summary will be completed and posted within the next few weeks. *****

***** The Weather ***** A stationary front lies along the Southeast coast. The front will drift inland and to the north on Saturday and then begin to slowly weaken. A steady stream of moisture will continue to pour into the Southeast and mid-Atlantic states during the next several day, aided by a strong area of high pressure building into the northern areas. Rain is likely in the lower mid-Atlantic states on Friday with a good chance of showers in the mountains. The chance of showers will spread north during the weekend. Isolated to scattered showers may occur in the Ohio Valley. Dry weather expected in southern Ontario. Highs mostly in the 60's and 70's with lows in the upper 50's and 60's.

***** The Forecast *****

In the lower mid-Atlantic region.... active weather is expected for the next several days. Trajecories move to the southwest and west. There is HIGH RISK for eastern and central NC and southside VA Friday through Sunday.

In the southern Appalachian Mountains..... favorable conditions are expected each day as trajectories move to the southwest and west. On Friday, there is HIGH RISK for the eastern slopes, Moderate Risk for central and western areas. There is Strongly Moderate Risk Saturday and Sunday for the entire mountain region.

In the Ohio Valley.... mostly unfavorable weather is expected on Friday. Mixed conditions are expected Saturday and Sunday. Trajectories move to the west Friday and Saturday. Slow movement north is expected on Sunday. On Friday, Weakly Moderate Risk for northern TN with Low Risk elsewhere. Saturday and Sunday, there is Moderate Risk for northern TN, central and western KY, and southern IN. Low Risk elsewhere.

In the Northeast.... conditions are unfavorable on Friday. Favorable weather will spread to the north Saturday and Sunday. Trajectories move the southwest Friday, to the northwest and north Saturday and Sunday. Low Risk for southeast PA and southern New England on Friday, with Moderate Risk for MD. Strongly Moderate Risk for southeast PA on Saturday and Sunday. Low Risk for southern New England on Saturday, Moderate Risk on Sunday.

In southern Ontario, unfavorable weather is expected, with Low Risk for crops in that region.
