FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, August 26

***** The Weather ***** Major changes have occurred in the weather patterns. On Sunday, an area of low pressure in the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere became separated from the main flow. This "cut-off Low".... now situated over the eastern Ohio Valley region.... will drift slowly south during the next several days. At the surface, a stationary front will be present over the Southeast and southern mid-Atlantic states. The combination of the Low aloft, the front at the surface, and an abundance of moisture will result in widespread showers and thunderstorms for the lower mid-Atlantic region and the southern Appalachian Mountains. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Ohio Valley. The Great Lakes and Northeast will be dry, will high pressure in control. Welcome relief will also come in the form of much cooler temperatures. Highs will be in the 70's and 80's Monday and Tuesday.

***** The Forecast ***** HIGH RISK on Monday and Tuesday for growing areas of southern VA, central and eastern NC, and the southern Appalachian Mountains. Trajectories will be moving west and southwest. In the Ohio Valley.... trajectories move southwest Monday and Tuesday. Strongly Moderate Risk for central KY on Monday, with Moderate Risk for western KY and central and western TN. Moderate Risk on Tuesday for central and western KY and central and western TN. Low Risk for the growing regions of southern IN, southern OH, and western WV. To the north..... Low Risk Monday and Tuesday for southern Ontario, southeast PA, and southern New England. Favorable weather for disease development is expected to continue in the mid-Atlantic and southern Appalachian Mountain regions through at least Thursday.
