FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, August 19

***** The Weather ***** A cold front that now lies across the northern tier will move southward during the next two days. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms today in most areas, arriving in the Northeast tonight. Drier weather across the northern sections on Tuesday as high pressure moves in. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms remain possible across the south. Highs in the 80's and 90's with lows in the 60's and 70's.

***** The Forecast ***** Most trajectories move to the east on Monday. Movement to the south and west is expected for some locations on Tuesday as winds shift behind the front. Long-range transport and deposition appear unlikely both days. Mixed conditions for survivable transport and deposition are expected for most areas. HIGH RISK for southern Ontario today, Low Risk on Tuesday behind the cold front. In the Northeast.... Low Risk for southeast PA and southern New England today. Showers will arrive tonight and last through Tuesday morning. Strongly Moderate Risk for these areas on Tuesday. In the lower mid-Atlantic..... partly cloudy skies with a chance of showers each day. Moderate Risk for southside VA and central and eastern NC Monday and Tuesday. In the mountains..... chance of showers today region-wide, chance of showers southern half on Tuesday. Moderate Risk for the southern Appalachian Mountains on Monday. Moderate Risk for northwest SC, northern GA, and the central and southern mountains of TN and NC on Tuesday. In the Ohio Valley.... mixed conditions today followed by unfavorable conditions for most sections on Tuesday. Moderate Risk Monday for southern IN, KY, and northern TN. Low Risk across the Ohio Valley region on Tuesday.
