22 April 2002 Blue Mold Forecasts

FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, April 22:

*** Disease Update - 19 April: Additional counties in Florida now have blue mold. *** Tom Kucharek informs us that both Lafayette and Madison counties have reported blue mold in the field. Blue mold is present in Gilchrist County, and may also be present in Columbia County, though this is currently unconfirmed. This brings the total of FL counties with blue mold to 5, perhaps 6.

*** Reviewing Sunday's forecast ..... mixed sky conditions prevailed over eastern NC on Sunday. The trajectory moved slowly north, then eastward over eastern VA and southern MD. Rainfall along the forecast trajectory was limited to the Sunday night portion over VA and MD. This resulted in less favorable conditions than were anticipated earlier. There was Moderate Risk to southern and eastern VA and southern MD on Sunday, with Low Risk elsewhere.

*** Monday and Tuesday.... Unfavorable weather for disease development is expected during the next few days *** This weekend's cold front is moving through the Southeast today and tonight. Some cloudiness and a ragged line of light rain are associated with the front. Limited chances for disease development are expected. Cooler and drier air and clear skies will move in behind the front. Moderate Risk on Monday for east-central NC and the northern and central coastal plains of NC. Low Risk elsewhere. Low Risk for all areas on Tuesday.
