FORECAST SUMMARY: Wednesday, May 2:
*** Disease Update - 27 May *** An update on the source in east-central NC..... Fourteen acres, not 1 acre, were planted from the original greenhouse in Wake County. The rest of the plants were destroyed. The planted tobacco was scouted on Thursday, May 26, and no sporulation was found. This site is likely no longer a source. However, 2 nearby greenhouses in Franklin County reported blue mold. One greenhouse was confirmed, and sprays are being applied. Growers have destroyed the symptomatic plants and will transplant the others. These are minor source sites.
*** There are no long-range threats Wednesday or Thursday. *** Transport scenarios are similar to those found earlier this week. There is a chance of showers in northern FL each day, with Moderate Risk for that area. Low Risk for other areas in the Southeast U.S. Wednesday and Thursday. The sources in western Cuba and southern Texas are Low Threats to other regions.
