18 May 2001 Blue Mold Forecasts

 

FORECAST SUMMARY: Friday, May 18:

*** Disease Update - 16 May *** Blue mold in Wilson County, NC. Tom Melton has confirmed blue mold in two fields in Wilson County. One is near the town of Bailey. The other is several miles west of Elm City. He describes both infections as light. Growers at both locations are applying sprays.

*** Unsettled weather is moving toward the Southeast U.S. *** Unfavorable conditions are expected on Friday. On Saturday, a cold front will approach the Southeast from the west. Showers are possible, but unfavorable conditions will dominate for most of the day near the known sources. Low Risk to commercial crops Friday and Saturday. On Sunday.... the front is expected to become stationary somewhere over the region, but the situation is highly uncertain. Elevated risk levels are possible for some areas. Updated forecasts will be posted on Sunday.
