4 June 2001 Blue Mold Forecasts

 

FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, June 4:

*** Unsettled weather continues in the Ohio Valley, with showers possible in the lower mid-Atlantic and Southeast *** A stationary front lies across the Carolinas westward into the TN Valley. The front will drift northward during the early part of this week. Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the Ohio Valley. Afternoon and evening showers or thunderstorms are possible in the moisture-rich areas of the Southeast. In the Ohio Valley.... there is Strongly Moderate Risk for east-central and northern KY, southwest OH, and southeast IN on Monday. There is Strongly Moderate Risk on Tuesday for east-central and northeast KY, southern OH, and western WV. To the east.... there is Moderate Risk for east-central and northeast NC, southeast VA, and southern MD. Moderate Risk also for the northern FL and southern GA source region Monday and Tuesday. Unfavorable weather is expected near the source area in PA. The source in southern TX poses little threat to other regions.

*** NOTE: It may not be possible to produce forecasts on Wednesday, June 6. During midweek, a cold front will move through the Ohio Valley and approach the east coast. On Wednesday, showers/thunderstorms are likely in the Ohio Valley. Along the east coast, it will be partly cloudy with a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. On Thursday, there is a chance of lingering showers in the Ohio Valley, while the better chance of rain shifts into the east-coast states. Conditions will be favorable for disease development for much of the eastern U.S. and southern Canada Wednesday and Thursday while this unsettled weather persists. Once the cold front passes, dry weather is expected for most of the weekend.

*** We strongly encourage growers to monitor their plants for signs of disease. Diligent scouting and prompt reporting of blue mold are essential if one wishes to derive maximum benefit from the services we provide. ***
