6 April 2001 Blue Mold Forecasts

FORECAST SUMMARY: Friday, April 6:

*** Disease Update - 4 April *** Tom Kucharek in FL informs us that blue mold is now present in two fields in northern FL, one in Alachua County, the other in Columbia County. Plants from the previously infected plant beds were used in those fields. Blue mold continues to spread locally in that area.

*** Possible threat to growers in MO on Friday *** Trajectories from Texas move north and northeast today. Disease activity levels in Texas are uncertain..... but conditions are mostly favorable for survivable transport and effective deposition in Missouri for Friday's transport event. Any airborne spores should be fully washed out by the time the trajectories reach Wisconsin. Moderate Risk to growers in MO on Friday. Low Risk near the TX sources, and to growers in Wisconsin. Texas transport scenarios on Saturday and Sunday are much less threatening, with Low Risk to growers in other regions. Please refer to the Uvalde forecast for details.

In the Southeast... warm, dry weather is expected each day this weekend, with Low Risk to growers.
