*** Disease Update - 27 April *** An update on the source in east-central NC..... Fourteen acres, not 1 acre, were planted from the original greenhouse in Wake County. The rest of the plants were destroyed. The planted tobacco was scouted on Thursday, April 26, and no sporulation was found. This site is likely no longer a source. However, 2 nearby greenhouses in Franklin County reported blue mold. One greenhouse was confirmed, and sprays are being applied. Growers have destroyed the symptomatic plants and will transplant the others. These are minor source sites.
*** There are no long-range threats Monday and Tuesday. *** A disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico will cause a chance of showers near the sources in northern FL and western Cuba. Unfavorable weather will be found over the rest of the Southeast U.S. Moderate Risk to crops in northern FL and western Cuba Monday and Tuesday. Low Risk otherwise. The sources in Texas do not pose a threat to other areas Monday or Tuesday.
