11 April 2001 Blue Mold Forecasts

 

FORECAST SUMMARY: Wednesday, April 11:

*** Disease Update - 11 April *** The Forecast Center staff visited the site of the Rolesville, NC outbreak this afternoon. Blue mold has spread through the infected greenhouse. Diseased plants were also discovered in an adjacent greenhouse. However, the disease is advancing slowly due to an aggressive spray program by the grower. This site remains a weak source.

*** The Rolesville source poses a Threat to the mid-Atlantic states on Wednesday *** Conditions are favorable for survivable transport. Deposition is possible today but is more likely during the night. Moderate Risk for north-central NC and south-central VA. Strongly Moderate Risk for northern VA, central MD, and southeast PA. Low Risk beyond. This source is a Low Threat on Thursday. The sources in FL, Cuba, and southern TX are Low Threats both Wednesday and Thursday, with Low Risk to growers.
