FORECAST DISCUSSION: Wednesday, May 24: *** 19 May Disease Update *** Tom Melton in North Carolina provides the following information...... Blue mold is present in Moore, Lenoir, Johnston, Durham/Wake, and probably Beaufort Counties. The number of infected greenhouses in Lenoir County now totals 25. Beaufort County is a new report with few details available. All of the Johnston and Wake/Durham plants have been destroyed or replanted. All of the field cases of NC blue mold have been a result of putting infected plants in the field. Little sporulation has been observed with the field infections.
*** Conditions are somewhat favorable in the lower mid-Atlantic, unfavorable in the Southeast *** A cold front in the Ohio Valley will move southward into the Carolinas on Thursday. In the Carolinas.... trajectories move to the east and northeast today. Conditions are unfavorable for survivable transport. Low Risk to growers today. Thursday will bring partly cloudy skies and a chance of afternoon showers. The trajectories move around near the source regions in weak winds. Moderate Risk for growers in the eastern half of NC on Thursday. In the Southeast..... trajetories move to the east both days and conditions are unfavorable for survivable transport or deposition. Low Risk to growers both days. Trajectories out of southern TX move north and pose no threat to other areas.
