FORECAST DISCUSSION: Friday, May 12: *** Disease Update *** In Lenoir County in eastern NC, significant disease activity was discovered on Thursday in one of the six greenhouse infections mentioned earlier this week. In addition, blue mold was found in four other greenhouses about 12-15 miles from the known infected greenhouses. Varying degrees of disease activity were present. This region continues to be a source of moderate strength.
*** The weather in the lower mid-Atlantic and Southeast will be unfavorable for disease development this weekend. *** Another cold front will move through the region on Saturday. However, only isolated showers are expected for some areas. Hot, sunny, dry conditions will dominate Friday and Saturday. Sunday will be cooler and less humid but still dry. All growers are at Low Risk of disease development this weekend. Cool, dry weather will persist through early next week.
