24 March 2000 Blue Mold Forecasts

FORECAST DISCUSSION: Friday, March 24: *** We have the first report of blue mold in the United Sates for 2000 *** Tom Kucharek reports that blue mold has been discovered in plant beds on three farms in northern Alachua County, Florida. An outbreak at one farm may have been active for the past two weeks. This is a serious source and it has been added to the forecasts. Interested parties may want to look at our Special Forecast for March 21 which details how these infections occurred.

*** All sources are Low Threats Friday through Sunday. *** Conditions near the known sources are mostly unfavorable for survivable transport. Trajectories do not move over any production areas. Localized disease development is also unlikely. Low Risk to growers during the weekend.
