FORECAST DISCUSSION: Wednesday, March 22: *** We have the first report of blue mold in the United Sates for 2000 *** Tom Kucharek reports that blue mold has been discovered in plant beds on three farms in northern Alachua County, Florida. An outbreak at one farm may have been active for the past two weeks. This is a serious source and it is being added to the forecasts immediately. Interested parties may want to look at our Special Forecast for March 21 which details how these infections occurred.
*** All sources are Low Threats Wednesday and Thursday. *** Trajectories from the various sources do not move toward any production areas and conditions are not favorable for long-range transport. Solar exposure will kill any airborne spores in several cases and early washout is very likely in others. There is Low Risk to growers during the midweek period.
