FORECAST DISCUSSION: Monday, June 12: *** 9 June: Blue mold has been reported in Tennessee *** Darrell Hensley reports that a field source of blue mold has been discovered in Grainger County in eastern TN, near the town of Rutledge. Lesions are fresh with active sporulation. Some systemic lesions are present also. This is moderate strength source. In addition, disease samples were brought in this morning from Sevier County, and it appears that blue mold may be present in that area. A new source is being added for Rutledge, TN. The southernmost of the three sources in southern GA / northern FL, Alachua, is being dropped. The remaining trajetory sites in south-central and southeast GA will represent any airborne spores coming from this region.

Moist winds off the Atlantic are feeding into FL and southern GA. Afternoon showers or thunderstorms are possible near these features and may carry the potential for some disease development. Other areas will remain under the control of the Bermuda High. In the mountains and in NC.... growers are at Low Risk on Monday. Conditions will be somewhat favorable on Tuesday in the mountains and near the coast. There is Moderate Risk for growers in northeast NC, southeast VA, and southern MD. Moderate Risk also for growers in northeast TN, extreme southwest VA, and southern WV. In southern GA and northern FL.... no long-range transport is expected. However, daily scattered showers may give rise to some localized disease development. The Texas region is a Low Threat early this week.
