FORECAST DISCUSSION: Friday, August 18:
*** Regional Weather - Lower mid-Atlantic/TN-OH Valleys northward through the eastern Great Lakes and Northeast: Cold front strung out from the mid-Atlantic through the Ohio Valley will move south and east today and tonight. The front will move off the coast of the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions while stalling out over the Southeast. Clouds with showers and thunderstorms will plague the growing regions today; sunny, drier, and cooler weather will prevail Saturday and Sunday. Highs ranging from the 70's to upper 90's today, mostly 70's and 80's Saturday and Sunday. Lows in the 50's and 60's.
*** Strongly Moderate Risk for nearly all growers on Friday. Low Risk for all growers on Saturday and Sunday *** Some survivable transport and deposition may occur on Friday. However, in each case, any deposition would be in areas that already have widespread infections. With conditions a little less favorable in the eastern Great Lakes, southern Ontario is only at Moderate Risk on Friday.
