14 August 2000 Blue Mold Forecasts

 

FORECAST DISCUSSION: Monday, August 14: *** 11 August Disease Update: Jim Lamondia in CT reports that blue mold is active and spreading in Hartford County, CT. With conditions recently favorable, there are new lesions with heavy sporulation present. Fields treated with Acrobat MZ prior to infection are showing less disease with slower spread.

*** Regional Weather - Lower mid-Atlantic/TN-OH Valleys northward through the eastern Great Lakes and Northeast: Low pressure system off the mid-Atlantic coast will move northeast today and Tuesday, affecting the upper mid-Atlantic states and New England today and just New England on Tuesday. Other areas of this broad region of interest will be sunny to partly cloudy and dry both days. Southern Ontario may have some increasing clouds Tuesday afternoon and a chance of showers as a front moves through that area.... with a chance of showers Tuesday night into Wednesday for parts of the upper Ohio Valley and perhaps the mid-Atlantic. Highs ranging from the 60's to 80's today, mostly 80's on Tuesday. Lows in the 60's.

*** Unsettled weather for the upper mid-Atlantic and New England Monday and Tuesday. Growers in southern New England will be at HIGH RISK both days as a low pressure area off the coast moves by. Southern PA and MD are at Strongly Moderate Risk today, Low Risk Tuesday. Growers in the lower mid-Atlantic, southern Appalachian Mountains, and the Ohio Valley will be at Low Risk both days. Southern Ontario growers are at Low Risk today, Moderate Risk Tuesday as another front approaches.
