Blue mold was confirmed Monday, June 16 in Suwannee County, FL near the town of Live Oak. About 25% of a 10-acre field was infected. The tobacco is at topping stage. Lesions were present mostly on lower leaves, though at a few locations in the field, lesions were found on mid and upper leaves as well. First symptoms were estimated to have appeared in early June. Our thanks to Amanda Gevens for this report.

Blue mold was confirmed in Nottoway County, VA on Monday, June 9. Symptoms were observed on transplants and volunteer plants in a 100 ft. long float-style greenhouse. Abundant lesions were present. Sporulation was heavy from the older lesions / chlorotic areas arising from merged lesions. It is estimated that the youngest lesions are 3rd generation, perhaps later. No fungicide has been applied, but the plants are being destroyed. Our thanks to Chuck Johnson for this report.

Blue mold was observed and later confirmed in Pierce and Lowndes Counties in southern GA earlier this week. Both dry and active lesions are present in the infections in both counties. Disease is estimated to have been in the field for at least 10 to 14 days, and as is common, is currently concentrated in low or damp parts of fields. Near the town of Blacksheer in Pierce County, blue mold is in several fields totalling about 100 acres. Disease incidence is about 10%. Near Lake Park in Lowndes County, observations indicate about 5% incidence in 30 acres of plants. Our thanks to Paul Bertrand for these reports.
