Poinsettia Problem Diagnostic Key - Corrective Measures

Root Rot on Potted Poinsettias

Root rots of poinsettia caused by Rhizoctonia solani, Pythium and Phytophthora are important on potted poinsettia (see: The Poinsettia Disease Importance Table). A fourth fungal pathogen, Thielaviopsis basicola may again become significant in poinsettia as more and more bedding plant crops susceptible to Thielaviopsis are grown ahead of poinsettias in the greenhouse.
