Vegetable Gardening for Beginners – 2 weeks away

This beginners gardening class will cover all the basics you need to know to start a vegetable garden this spring. Taught by Pender Extension Horticulture Agent Charlotte Glen, the class will cover: Which vegetables can be grown here Recommended varieties When and how to plant Preparing your soil Providing water and nutrients for healthy crops Managing pests with and without pesticides Organic gardening methods This class is free, though donations to support the WCUMC community garden project will be accepted. Pender County Extension Master Gardeners will assist with the class and have their month by month gardening guide ($9) and gardener's cookbook ($10) available to purchase. Registration is required by Wednesday, March 13.
