Background
Each summer the Departments of Horticulture, Plant Pathology and Entomology jointly host a satellite Plant Clinic for Horticulture Extension Agents and Master Gardeners across the state. This two hour, live, two-way interactive satellite program is offered the second Tuesday of the Month in May, June, July and August.
The program is broadcast live from campus from 10:00am - 12:00pm.
We will be set up to broadcast PowerPoint, Elmo/document camera, microscope, and digital video.
Taping Location
May 13 - Butler Building, Room 153
June 10, July 8, August 12, - Daniels Hall, 331, 111 LAMPE DR., http://www.ncsu.edu/campus_map/building-index.htm (It is two buildings South of Ricks Hall)
Technology
* We will be able to broadcast via live video, dissecting microscope, compound microscope document camera, and white board as well as pre-packaged video and PowerPoint. Please get your video and PowerPoints to me at your earliest convenience, no later than the Friday before the show. If your powerpoint is too large to email, you can use http://yousendit.com to send it free via the web.
* If you plan to use the microscopes please contact Shawn Butler (shawn_butler@ncsu.edu) to make arrangements. Please bring someone with you to operate the scopes so you can focus on presenting while they prepare samples for viewing. An alternative would be to capture images ahead of time and send them to me in a PowerPoint format (this would also enable you to type out the plant, disease or insect scientific and common names)
* PowerPoint
-- Font MUST be 20pt or larger
-- Leave an open area around the edge as the broadscast truncates the edges of the slide
* We will be capturing digital video to post on the web.
Tips:
* Wear an NC State Cooperative Extension Shirt if you have one.
* Gray, light blue or other pastels give the best effect.
* Avoid wearing white, orange, yellow, stripes or small prints.
* No distracting jewelry, hats.
* Nothing with an insignia on it from a commercial institution other than NC State
Requests from Agents:
* Focus on current problem topics, not amazing weird things.
* Add text on screen to spell out disease and insect names.
* Leave plenty of time for questions.
Parking
* Visitor Parking
