Community Gardens

Partners & Resources

Bountiful Backyards

Bountiful Backyards is an edible landscaping collective with a radical vision for the future. It starts with the attainable ideal of transforming the relationship that people have with food and their communities. From kitchen gardens and composting to neighborhood scale orchards bursting with useful plants, the collective works with all demographics and strives to impart as much learning and knowledge to their growing client and resource database.

Center For Environmental Farming Systems - Farm to Fork

Addressing the question -- What will it take to build a sustainable local food economy in North Carolina?

Come to the Table

Come to the Table is an on-going project that explores the connections between food security, faith and farms. We include lay leaders and ministers, nonprofits, government officials and individuals. We work together as people of faith to create a food system that that feeds our communities, supports farmers and farmworkers, and fosters a connection to the land. Come to the Table is a project of the Rural Life Committee of the North Carolina Council of Churches.

Goodwork

As a community development organization, we envision people living in just, caring, and sustainable communities with the opportunity and resources to create the lives and communities they want. Good Work trains, coaches, guides, and supports everyday people, entrepreneurs, and organizations to help them advance their financial, economic, business, and entrepreneurship literacy. We equip them with the knowledge and skills to be better stewards of their gifts and become more self-reliant and entrepreneurial.

Heifer International

Heifer envisions… A world of communities living together in peace and equitably sharing the resources of a healthy planet. Heifer’s mission is… To work with communities to end hunger and poverty and to care for the earth. Heifer's strategy is… To “pass on the gift.” As people share their animals’ offspring with others – along with their knowledge, resources, and skills – an expanding network of hope, dignity, and self-reliance is created that reaches around the globe. Heifer’s History. . . This simple idea of giving families a source of food rather than short-term relief caught on and has continued for over 60 years. Today, millions of families in 128 countries have been given the gifts of self-reliance and hope.

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle

For twenty years, the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle has been getting nutritious food into the hands of hungry people across the Greater Triangle. The Farm and Community Gardens Project continues this mission and responds to an increasing demand for healthy foods in all neighborhoods by creating local sources of fresh fruits and vegetables for underserved communities. Local food, food that hasn’t traveled, excels in taste and nutrition. The Farm and Community Gardens Project helps everyone have access to the best foods available.
