Height: 3 to 8 feet
Flower/fruit: Small white flowers in dense spikes on branched stems; flowers lack petals but have a calyx with four lobes and four long showy stamens  
Flowering Season: Summer into early fall
Foliage: Large basal leaves, pinnately divided into 7 to 15 oblong, sharply toothed leaflets
Site: Bogs, seepage slopes, wet meadows, thickets
