Life Cycle: Perennial

Height: 1 to 3 feet
Flower/fruit: Cluster of orange to yellow flowers on 1 to 2 foot stem; deeply fringed lower lip; long slender spur curves downward from base, exceeding the lip  
Flowering Season: Summer to fall
Foliage: Lower leaves are lance-shaped, up to 12 inches long; smaller upper leaves
Site: Dry uplands, meadows, sandy woods; roadside
Comments: Often found in small colonies
