Flower/fruit: 1 inch violet or blue-purple long-stalked, tubular, two-lipped flower; occurs in pairs in leaf axis; two yellow ridges in throat  
Flowering Season: Summer into fall
Foliage: 2 to 4 inch sessile lance-shaped leaves; often clasping; square stem
Site: Bogs, marshes, stream banks, wet woods
