Flower/fruit: Small white flowers in a simple end cluster have a 4-parted perianth and 4 stamens; small, round, pale greenish, spotted berries turn dull red
Flowering Season: Spring, summer
Foliage: 3 to 6 inch erect stems bearing two or three smooth leaves with a heart-shaped base
Site: Rich wood; partial shade to shade; damp mossy woods
Comments: Creeping rootstock; normally occurs in colonies
