Life Cycle: Perennial


Height: 1 to 3 feet
Flower/fruit: 1 inch yellow flower with an orange throat on a long, crowded raceme; thin drooping spurs at base; slight medicinal odor; upper lip is two-lobed  
Flowering Season: Early summer into fall
Foliage: 1 to 2.5 inch slender gray-green leaves, pointed at each end; upper leaves are alternate and lower leaves are whorled
Site: Roadsides, fields, waste places
Comments: Introduced from Europe; attracts bees and butterflies
