Flower/fruit: 4 to 6 inch white, creamy white or pink petals with purplish or dark crimson base; flower stalk is united with the leaf stalk for part of their length
Flowering Season: Summer, fall
Foliage: 3 to 8 inch, narrowly egg-shaped or lance-shaped leaves are toothed on the margins
Site: Moist soil, swamps; sun to partial shade
