Life Cycle: Perennial


Height: .5 to 1 foot
Flower/fruit: 1.5 inch bell-shaped yellow flower on a stalk; the six perianth parts curve backward and are often tinged with purple on the back
Flowering Season: Early spring
Foliage: Pair of elliptic leaves 4 to 6 inches long; pale green and mottled with purplish brown
Site: Moist, well-drained, humus soil; partial shade to shade; rich woods and bottomlands
Comments: Grows from a corm; young plants often have only one leaf
