Life Cycle: Perennial

Height: .5 to 1 foot
Flower/fruit: .7 inch white flowers are clustered at the summit of a 4 to 12 inch smooth stalk; flower has five sepals, five petals and 10 to 12 stamens
Flowering Season: Spring
Foliage: 2 to 5 inch leaves in a basal rosette; leaf stalk has a pair of wings which gradually taper to the base; at the summit is a roundish 2-lobed blade with a marginal fringe of bristly hairs; upper surface of the blade is red or reddish; on each lobe there are sensitive hairs which serve to trigger the trap
Site: Wet, sandy, rich soil; sun to partial shade; natural habitat is restricted to southeastern NC and eastern SC
