Flower/fruit: 2 inch, pale lavender-blue to violet flower; large rounded standard which is notched at the tip; the keel and white petals are short; 1 to 3 flowers per stalk arise from the axils of leaves; small bud-like flowers are produced late in the season
Flowering Season: May-Sept.
Foliage: Stalked leaves are divided into 1 to 2 inch egg-shaped or lance-shaped leaflets
Site: Dry sandy soil; open areas of pink, pine-oak, oak-hickory woods; clearings, thickets
Comments: Has trailing stems but seldom climbs
