Flower/fruit: Long slender candle-like cluster of small white flowers; each flower consists largely of a tassel-like group of white stamens with a pistil in the center; no true petals; sepals drop off as the flower opens; small dry seed pod
Flowering Season: Summer, fall
Foliage: Slender stem; 2 or 3 large compound leaves; leaflets are mostly egg-shaped, rounded or somewhat pointed at the base; cleft or sharply toothed on the margins
Site: Rich soil; partial shade to shade 
Comments: Root stocks are used medicinally
