Life Cycle: Perennial


Height: 2 to 6 feet
Flower/fruit: 1 to 2 inch funnel-shaped yellow flowers on leafy raceme; five flaring lobes at tip
Flowering Season: Summer into early fall
Foliage: 1.5 to 4 inch opposite, lanceolate to ovate, mostly untoothed leaves; lower leaves are deeply lobed or in smooth, pointed, cleft segments; smooth stem covered with a bloom - may be purple
Site: Woods, thickets
Comments: Partially parasitic upon roots of white oaks; attracts bees and butterflies
