Flower/fruit: Solitary bell-shaped flower often hidden among the fallen leaves; three spreading or recurved, pointed brownish purple lobes
Flowering Season: Late spring
Foliage: Pair of heart-shaped, very veined leaves; 3 to 6 inches long; covered with fine hairs
Site: Rich moist woods; often rocky sites
Comments: Root has ginger-like flavor; spreads by creeping underground stems
