Ornamental Features
The fruits of Little-leaf linden are small, greenish nutlets which develop from that swollen ovary. The fruits are clustered, as were the flowers, and are borne from the same strap-like leafy bract. This arrangement of the flower and fruit clusters on a leafy bract is unique to the basswoods, and can aid greatly in field identifications.
