Arbor Day is an unofficial holiday to recognize and celebrate the importance of trees. The actual day observed varies from state to state. In North Carolina, Arbor Day is observed the first Friday after March 15.

Future dates for Arbor day in North Carolina

2001 - March 16
2002 - March 15
2003 - March 21

You may wish to plant a tree or help plan a school or community event as a way to educate the public on proper tree care. It could also be a good way to introduce people to under-utilized tree species.
