Flower/Fruit: 6 to 12" panicle of white bell shaped flowers with two rows and ridges of yellow spots and numerous purple spots in early summer
Comments: Caterpillars can defoliate but it will releaf; brittle wood; best used away from the house; long-lived, untidy tree; crooked branches; flowers later than C. speciosa and has more purple color
Cultivars: Aurea, Variegata, var. purpurea
