Fronds: Tight mass of upright fronds; delicate, yellow-green, pinnate pinnatified blade; tapers gradually at both ends; each pinna is deeply pinnatified having 12 to 32 blunt segments; fertile fronds are larger, narrower, and more upright; stipe is light green, smooth or slightly hairy above; sori are borne close to the margin; fronds turn yellow to straw color in fall
Comments: Long creeping rhizome; easy to grow; can become aggressive; requires moist, humus rich soil in sun or shade; often found in drier areas of swamps
