Fronds: Feathery erect or ascending, broad, lance-shaped frond, slightly reduced at base; pointed or lax tips; fronds arranged in a circular cluster; 20 plus pairs of not opposite pinna that point upward; bipinnate-pinnatified; thin texture; pinnules are cut to midvein and have thin pointed or blunt tip; color ranges from yellow-green to medium green; continues to produce new fronds during summer; stipe and rachis are green or red; stipe is smooth or grooved in front; a few dark brownish scales on stipe; has a rounded-oblong crosier covered with dark brown scales; sori are hook-shaped or elongated
Comments: Easy to grow; vigorous; forms dense clumps; spreads rapidly; protect from strong wind, since fronds are easily broken; prefers shade but will adopt to sun with adequate moisture; erect rhizome
Cultivars: Frizelliae: (tatting fern) 12 to 18"; narrow (1" wide) fronds; pinnae reduced to bead-like balls
