Flower: White flowers in June on 6-12" stems
Foliage: Prostrate, rosette growth from a short rhizome; traps form on end of short petioles; inner surface of traps may be rich, dark red or green (depends on amount of sun); closed traps open in 5 to 14 days; traps die after 2 to 4 closings
Comments: Shallow roots; full sun and high humidity; planting mix of whole-fiber sphagnum moss or a mix of equal parts peat moss and coarse vermiculite or sharp sand; native only to portions of NC and SC; primary food is ants
