When people work together toward a goal, they often disagree. Disagreements happen because the members of the partnership, group, or team have different personalities, values, past experiences, work styles, and personal goals. A clash of these elements can obstruct the team's progress.

Conflicts often are viewed as negative, yet they are a perfectly natural and constructive part of any working process. They reflect each party's personal involvement in a project and provide good opportunities to accomplish goals creatively. Conflicts often inspire very successful outcomes.

Sometimes, disagreements and arguments cause people to get stuck. That's why it is important to understand why conflicts occur and develop the skills to resolve them and move forward.
