Transactional and Transformational:
Two Basic Leadership Behaviors

Now that you’ve completed both of the previous exercises, carefully review your responses and definitions. In Prior Life Experiences Exercise 1, you developed your own definition of a transaction. In Prior Life Experiences Exercise 2, you considered the concept of transformation.

Drawing from all of your responses, identify the three or four key aspects of both concepts, transaction and transformation. Think carefully. How are both concepts similar? How are they different? After you’ve had time to think about your answers to these questions, complete the following sentence:

“I believe that the term transaction means __________, while the term transformation means __________. The two concepts are similar in that __________, yet they differ in that __________.”

Before you continue in this module, go to your Reflection Journal, enter today’s date, and record the sentence that you’ve just completed.
