The
word “team” means different things to different people.
When they hear the word, some people immediately think of a sports
team, like the two that played in this the most recent Super Bowl,
or a favorite college or high school football or basketball team.
Others think of an academic team at school, like the debate team
or the school’s chess team. And still others may think of
a business or company’s, office team or project team.
The important
thing to remember about any team is what it stands for: “Together,
Each Accomplishes More!”
Teams are all
around us, whether or not we actually call them a “team.”
You and your family members are really a type of team, because each
individual member works with and helps the other family members
create a safe, happy, and rewarding home life. As you and your friends
at school or in 4-H work together on an assignment or project, you
are really forming a team, with each individual contributing to
the group’s overall goal.
In a previous
module, you learned what a team is and how one forms and develops
over time. Now, let’s explore the important, unique role that
each individual can play as a team (like a TRY-IT! Team) begins
to work toward a common goal.
