4-H Centers as Temporary Homes

Use of 4-H Centers: 4-H Camps, Extension Offices, buildings in your community that have space to set up shelters or temporary homes.

1. Campus and field faculty could be mobilized to help at the centers. Extension field faculty, NC State faculty and staff across the state, student interns, graduate students, campus organizations, etc. could be mobilized there.

2. 4-H clubs could assist in many ways. 4-H families could visit and provide company to other children, provide games, collect resources for the families for both their short-term immediate needs and long-term anticipated needs.

3. Inform and request support from agricultural commodity groups, NC corporations and industries, our own NCSU and NCA&T foundations and granting institutions. Guilford, Mecklenburg & Wake Counties are slated to house families, and NC 4-H is considering camps and conference centers as host sites, versus schools that have limited timeframes for assistance.

4. Promote the idea to other potential hosts like the ones mentioned above.
