North Carolina 4-H Presentation Guidelines: Objectives:
Eligibility: Individuals or teams may compete.

Resources: Videos from Agricultural Communications Library. Rules/Regulations: State award of $75 per team member/$150 for individuals is awarded only to those who use the funds toward expenses to compete in the National Junior Horticultural Association contest. To compete in the national contest at NJHA, a demonstration must be given as opposed to an illustrated talk. The individual must be 15 by December 31st of the year of participation. A 4-H member may receive sponsorship awards to no more than two NJHA conventions in his/her 4-H career. Note: Terrarium construction and disk garden presentations may only be given in the Horticultural Production program. Please see this website for more information. Also, be sure to check the NJHA Demonstration Contest for specifics. Suggestions/Helpful Hints: Horticultural Production: Any practice that has to do with growing vegetables, fruits, nuts, flowers, ornamental plants and turf, as well as those practices concerned with maintaining, replenishing, or increasing the production capacity of the soil. Terrarium construction and dish garden presentations should be entered in this program.Horticultural Marketing: Operations in preparing vegetables, edible tree nuts, fruits, flowers, and ornamental plants for market, offering for sale to a buyer, or for storage and in preparing for and exhibiting these horticultural crops. Awards: District Winners: $50.00 scholarship to NC 4-H Congress for each winner in each division State Winners: $25.00 award for 9-10, 11-13; 14-18 top winner in both Horticultural Marketing and Horticultural Production receive support toward expenses to NJHA Convention.
