Youth Participated in 4-H in the Following Ways:
  • *31,311 members of 1,432 4-H clubs
  • 107,719 members of 3,537 4-H special interest groups
  • 98,773 in 2,958 4-H school enrichment groups
  • 4,155 in 4-H individual study program
  • 218 enrolled in 4-H instructional tv/video programs
  • 33,673 in 662 school-aged child care programs

  • 64% (140,092) - white, not of Hispanic origin
  • 31% (66,037) - black, not of Hispanic origin
  • 2% (3,786) - Indian
  • 2% (3,516) - Hispanic
  • 1% (2,647) - Asian, Pacific Islander
    Of the total number of youth in 4-H, 35% are from minority racial-ethnic groups.

Where 4-H Participants Live:
  • 8% (17,242) - live on farms
  • 4% (7,712) - live in suburbs of cities of over 50,000
  • 53% (114,580) - live in towns under 10,000 and open country
  • 9% (20,185)- live in central cities of over 50,000+
  • 26% (55,453) - live in towns and cities of 10,000 to $50,000
