Professional Development Scholarship Opportunity
Application Due October 22, 2001
I am pleased to announce the availability of the Chet and Lucy Black
Extension 4-H Professional Development Scholarship. Dr. and Mrs. Black
have established an endowment that will annually recognize an individual
who has demonstrated excellence as a 4-H program assistant, 4-H program
associate, 4-H program manager, 4-H agent or 4-H specialist and who
desires to utilize the scholarship to further their professional
development. Both Dr. and Mrs. Black were 4-H agents in Missouri and
Dr. Black served as North Carolina's Assistant Director and State 4-H
Leader before serving as Director of the North Carolina Cooperative
Extension Service. They have established the attached criteria so that
any employee of the Cooperative Extension Service whose primary
responsibility is 4-H Youth Development may apply.
Attached is information about the award and the application which is due
October 22, 2001. The 2001 inaugural award will be valued at $500 and
will be presented at the CES Administrative Conference recognition
banquet in November.
We ask that recipients of this communication forward it to other "4-H
program managers" who may be eligible under the stated guidelines.
Please encourage your 4-H colleagues to apply.
